This is a really nice matching numbers R69S in restored condition that came from a small local collection and has had two known Bob's BMW customers. First, an R69S was the Hot Rod of the line up featuring BMW's 590cc boxer twin making 42hp compared to the 30hp of a standard R60/2 which BMW accomplished with a higher compression ration (9.5:1 vs. 7.5:1), dual 26mm Bing cars (vs. 24mm) and this bike features the later more user friendly Bings, higher spec pistons, bigger valves and a crank balancer. The R69S was able to do the ton and on paper hit 109mph. The R69S also featured an additional lower steering damper. This Earles fork bike features the standard 4.5 gallon tank, low side car bars and Denfeld solo saddle. The telescopic Earles was a variety of leading link fork where the pivot point was aft of the rear of the front wheel - this was the basis of the Earle's patent. Designed by Englishman Ernest Earles, this triangulated fork actually caused the front end of a motorcycle to rise when braking hard - the reverse of the action of a telescopic fork. It was designed to accommodate sidecars with two positions and was on BMWs from 1955 to 1969. This bike is set up in the correct side car position. It also features chrome steel rims (better than the high shoulder aluminum rims for day to day use), real Albert head light mirrors, bar end turn signals, repro s/s exhaust (originals rarely exist), incorrect but popular chrome air cleaner and intake tubes, correct air pump, correct Magura grips, and chrome s/s hub caps with s/s spokes and nipples. There are the usual factory installed side car lugs. Original painted stripes were hand done and a tad wavy and uneven in their application. This bike was repainted and features hand applied stripes on the tank, fenders and side car. These bikes feature 6 volt charging systems and are kick started. This bike also features some really unique and rare options including a Paul's EZ clutch (a very light pull required), very rare and original Schorsch Meier Modell 1955 race/tour passenger pillion (likely valued at $1000 alone), period tank roundel trim ring, Bob's repro tank cover, and of course the Ural side car. The side car too features a rare and unique feature in that the fender features a /2 tail light on the rear and a rare /2 forward lamp option on the front, essentially a tail light converted to a driving light - very nice and has an estimated value of $500 alone. The side car also features a side car brake, tonneau cover, and screen along with a period paint scheme to match and hand painted stripes. The mileage is believed to be correct and the bike runs wonderfully. A correct original tool set is supplied along with a small collection of assorted small spare parts. Not familiar with the world of side cars, perhaps an additional generous donation would cover some training. This is a great opportunity for a wonderful cause.
