So, what does a Bob's Parts Guy do for fun?

What else? He gets the hell outta' here to go RIDING! If you don't already know the man pictured here, meet Colin Busch: man about town, well known rock 'n' roll singer/drummer, certified BMW technician, GS rider/enthusiast extraordinaire, and now – Bob’s parts guy who finally got to go on vacation!

Colin has been planning and dreaming for a long time about taking an extended cross country road trip on his highly customized R1150GS. On Sunday, August 25th, his dream came true and he finally left. We see him here just before leaving town, downing a hearty breakfast at the Metropolitan Coffeehouse & Wine Bar, one of his favorite Baltimore joints, and yes, engaging in another of his favorite activities: shameless flirting!

Colin returned to the area September 25th. Just in time to help raise money for Ride for Kids in Columbia, MD. He had a fantastic time and we'll post more photographs as they arrive so check back soon.

Highlights from Colin's Cross Country Trek.

My favorite moment of the trip was finding a Thai restaurant in the middle of absolutely nowhere in Colorado, having only two dollars in cash, but being stuffed to the gills with incredibly well made food by the lady who owned the place.  She said she was sorry she didn't take debit or credit cards.  Just under 9000 miles in 25 days with lots of "off the bike time".  No tickets, no close calls, no flat tires, no bike problems, no bad traffic, seventy five degrees and sunny, not one single drop of rain.  In the words of my buddy Ronnie:  "Ride fast, live slow".

Relecting on the trip in front of me. My gear is on and I'm ready to launch!
This shot is my bike at the Badlands. Nice and curvy. Moving at a nice clip across the flats of South Dakota.
NOTE: Officially, Bob’s BMW does not recommend or condone the practice of snapping photos while riding a motorcycle at speeds in excess of 100 MPH. It’s just too darn hard to get the pictures to turn out right!
The final resting place of Mr. James Butler Hickock up on boot hill in Deadwood South Dakota.  My friend Signe Johnson in Phillipsburg, Montana Telling me I'm number one, twice.
My new friends John, Ellen and Captain Jack.  They took me in for the night in Seattle after having only met me that day. Brave and very very nice people. This shot is from Tillamook, Oregon. Those are the rocks that were in the movie Goonies!!
This shot is of a curve warning sign. The road did exactly what the sign showed. Full on three hundred ten degree turn.  It was taken on route 299 in northern California.  Me, the bike and a sweet turn on top of a mountain in northern California.

Phillipsburg, Montana

Beers with my friend Kristin in Portland.

Rt 50 thru Nevada. Truly the lonliest highway in the US.

I picked this guy up when I started heading south on rt 101 in Oregon.

Redwood national forest.

Klamath river in the Shasta Trinity mountains, Northern California.

Rt 50 in Utah.

Colin rode from Sacramento, CA to Denver, CO on "Route 50" in one day. He then rode from Denver, CO to Albuquerque, NM to Memphis, TN in one day (acutally Brownsville because there was "no room at the inn" in Memphis) on Saturday. With this ride, he made 1,000 in one day. Today he drove from TN to Outer Banks, NC. He also said he received a sticker to state he rode across the Nevada Route 50 area (longest highway). He hit 125 mph during that 200 mile stretch and has a photo to prove it. Colin did the entire trip without driving in rain. He was amazed that he never had to pull out his rain gear. He said he was a little tired now and was taking a break before his final stretch to Outer Banks. He'll be staying in Outer Banks until the day before he has to go back to work. He said he has lots of pictures......Colin's uncle has a web site about his trip, click here to read.

Colin has returned safely to Bob's. Stay tuned for more pics from his trip.
