Motorcycle Safety Training

Motorcycle Safety Training

Back

According to the Maryland MVA website, “more than 90% of motorcyclists involved in accidents had no proper training,” yet motorcycle safety training is not required (unless you are 18 years or younger) to obtain a motorcycle license in Maryland?

We want to be sure our customers are aware that although some states like Maryland, don’t require it, it is available for riders of all skill levels, not just beginners. The upside of the courses for beginners is that by taking the Basic Rider Course you avoid the dreadful MVA lines plus you become eligible for special savings both through BMW and Bob’s!

In Maryland there are 20 MVA licensed and approved training centers. Each center offers courses for all skill levels, such as Basic Rider Course (BRC) or the Alternate Basic Rider Course (ABRC). There is also the Advanced Rider CourseBasic Rider Course 2, and Returning Rider Course. Some training facilities such as the Rider School at Howard Community College offer exclusive courses like Total Control Riding Clinic; Prince George’s Community College offers a Motorcycle Maintenance course; and the Glen Burnie MVA is now offering a 3 wheeler course. Many of the training facilities offer unique courses in addition to the ones listed above. You can view the list of facilities below and visit their sites to find available courses near you.

Knowledge is power and in this case, according to the statistics provided by Maryland MVA, the knowledge learned in motorcycle training courses provide riders a 90% better chance of avoiding involvement in an accident.

Below is a list of some of the schools in Maryland as well as a couple in Northern Virginia. Residents in others states, can find similar lists, by visiting your states, MVA website.

Finally, to any of our readers who are licensed MSF instructors, please take a moment to provide a direct link to your schedule of classes on our facebook page.
